Happy NEWS Year!

H A P P Y N E W Y E A R ! ! !

And a Big hello to all the lovely people who commented on my last update and have since started following my blog!
I had a lovely Christmas (involving a trip to Paris and the circus! More about that soon!) and am now back in the studio working away on lots of exciting, and sadly for the moment, TOP SECRET things which I hope to share with you soon!

But first, some NEWS:
FANTASTIC FRANKIE and the BRAIN-DRAIN MACHINE written by Anna Kemp and illustrated by me is out now available to buy and, most excitingly it's been nominated for the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize. The winner will be announced on 9th Feb!

And on Friday I had an email from my lovely french publisher Editions Nord-Sud telling me that the french language version of my book EGG is publishing next month under the BRILLIANT title 'Omelette Surprise!'

The above image is a New Year greetings card they've made to promote the book!

Hello...it's been a while...

Hello!

I'm alive!
I've just had the busiest couple of months finishing the illustrations for two young fiction books for Meadowside Children's Books. They are called 'The BADDIE' and 'The Horrible Princess' and are written by the brilliant Anna Maxted. I found these books hilarious and exciting and from the moment I read the first chapter I knew I had to illustrate them. I had a lot of fun drawing the pictures and I hope if you buy the books you will enjoy them as much as I did.

I've also been hard at work on a few more projects which unfortunately have to be kept TOP SECRET still and I can't tell you anything about them just yet, but when I can I will.
In the mean time, above are two pictures from my new People Sketchbook.
I love people watching so have decided to start this sketchbook to record some of the types of people I see to use as reference in my work, and also to keep me drawing and painting things other than the work I'm doing professionally.

So here we have two very different sorts of doctors and the barber I saw the other day who was terrifying and amusing in equal measure. He was absolutely enormous, yet kept his little finger flexed at all times like an Edwardian lady sipping afternoon tea. Most odd...

More People to come...

I'm ALLLLIIIIIIIIIVVVEEEEEE!

Bllliiiiiiiiiimeyy!

That was a longtime between posts! Sorry about that! Will try harder in the future!
In my defense I have been very busy. Here is a list of things I have been up to:

* I went to New York and ate cheesecake and got sunburnt. (p.s. I ♥ NY.)

* I got presented with an award for my work on ELIOT JONES, MIDNIGHT SUPERHERO.
(I also ate a mini quiche at the reception before hand with was de.lish.)

* My third book was published- Bella and Monty: A Hairy, Scary Night.
   (Shameless Plug: it's available here...)

* Met and drew for some lovely, if slightly mad, children at some schools I visited - Hello if you    are reading this!)

* Started knitting a ninja...

* Judged some picture books for a Best Books review. ( So much fun and also- excellent      biscuits.)

All between fitting in actual drawing and actual writing! I've just finished book 5 and am onto book 6! 6 books in 3 years. WOWZERS!

Anyway... a post wouldn't be a post without at least one picture so here you go. Just a little something I'm working on.

I'm slightly obsessed with the above colours at the moment. Love minty green with bright pink.

Oh and before I go... if you are in need of a little break from work and a quick story why not look at this? It's Jonas Armstrong ( aka Robin Hood!) reading Eliot Jones, Midnight Suerhero and showing off my illustrations.

Whoop and Hooray!

P.S

I think the man next door is keeping pigeons in his attic and I am slightly scared that they might managed to break into my attic and through the boarded up trapdoor and run riot in my house. I just wanted you all to now. That is all.
