Hello!

I'm back from a week in the sun, splashing about in the sea and messing about on boats!
(Pictures from my holiday sketchbook  to follow soon!)
I don't know whether it's because I've come back from roasting hot weather, but I can't help but thinking that England is chillier than usual. Almost autumnal... So here is an autumnal picture for you all. I'm thinking about getting some little prints done of this. Would anyone be interested??

I was going to say that these children appear to have leapt straight out of the 1950s, then I realised that the little girl looks just like my niece when she was about three who had a dress very similar to the one the girl above is wearing. It was a costume for a dance show she was in, but that didn't stop her from putting it on and wearing it around the house!

Translation: WATCH OUT! It's an ice rink!

When I was in Paris before Christmas, Jemma and I went to have a breakfast picnic in a beautiful little park near to where she used to teach. It was a very bright, but cold and icy morning and we enjoyed eating out croissants on a bench by the duck pond. All of a sudden a troupe of nursery school children marched down the path and the above happened. I felt a bit sorry for their teacher - I think he had his hands full with his chic, clumsy little pupils!

I sketched the scene in my sketchbook when we were having a warm up hot chocolate in a cafe nearby. I couldn't resist colouring it in.

I spotted this little girl stomping through town last week during the half term holiday.

There are many days when I feel a homemade pirate hat might help me get through the day...
